    Innocent – New ‘Super Juices’ launch

    Leading smoothie brand Innocent are launching a new range of ‘Super Juices’ made from fruit, vegetables and vitamins. Three new flavours will be on the market this spring and will include vitamins C and E, as well as B2, B3 and B6, which Innocent claim will help consumers reduce tiredness and fatigue and help them hit their ‘five a day’ target.

    The three new flavours are: Wonder Green with apple, pear, cucumber and a hint of ginger; Super Juice with raspberry, cherry and goji berries; Super Juice with oranges, blood oranges and Acerola cherries.

    Limoneira buys majority stake in Chilean citrus grower

    California-based fruit company Limoneira has acquired a majority holding in the northern Chilean citrus producer Pan de Azucar (PDA) for US$5.8 million to further expand its Chilean operation. PDA has lemon and orange orchards covering 210 acres in the La Serena area and with the majority of the trees in the orchard being young Limoneira are expecting to grow annual production as a result of the trees increasing output as they mature.

    “Along with expanding our participation in the growing global lemon business, this enables Limoneira to provide citrus on a year-round basis to our customers around the world and evaluate future potential investment opportunities in Chile’s vast, productive agricultural properties.” Limoneira senior vice president Alex Teague said.

    Dabur’s Real Fruit Juice forced to change packaging due to gender discrimination

    Following the refusal of a nine year old girl to drink their ‘Real’ fruit juice. Dabur, one of the biggest consumer goods manufacturing in India, has been forced to change the packaging. The juice was marketed as “Something that is good for your child should also make him smile”. Union minister of women and child development Maneka Gandhi asked Dabur to change its packaging and make it gender neutral, after receiving a complaint from the girl’s father. The company has also promised to make the necessary changes on the packaging of the fruit juice.

    Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. is investigating the sale of Riedel, market leader in the field of fruit juices and fruit drinks in the Netherlands. The brand portfolio of Riedel includes  Appelsientje, CoolBest, DubbelFrisss, Taksi and Extran. With the company now focusing on their dairy portfolio Roelof Joosten, CEO said: ‘We are investigating the sale of our fruit juices and fruit drinks activities. Since the early 1970’s, our fruit juices and fruit drinks manufacturer Riedel has developed itself to become market leader in ambient and chilled fruit juices and fruit drinks in the Netherlands. FrieslandCampina wants to ensure Riedel is best positioned to anticipate and respond to changing customer requirements and consumers habits. Therefore we believe it is important for Riedel to take the next step in its development.’
